Manufacturing Technology Improvement Program at Northern Illinois University
$5 million is requested for the Rapid Optimization of Commercial Knowledge (ROCK) program, which will continue to work with manufacturers in northern Illinois as part of a Fuel System Component Manufacturing Technology Improvement program. Both the Department of Defense and commercial vehicle systems operators need to dramatically improve fuel economies and durability while lowering acquisition/maintenance costs. The ROCK program through Northern Illinois University has helped more than 100 companies to date and has led to a number of start-up manufacturing companies in northern Illinois. This initiative will help manufacturers and help create jobs.
