Sewer System Improvement in Savanna
$400,000 is requested for the City of Savanna, Sanitary Sewer Collection System Improvement Project. The project is a continuation of the cure in place piping project for the city’s sanitary sewer collection system started in 2008. The City experiences unacceptable amounts of infiltration and inflow during wet weather events. The inundation of clear water in the collection system causes back-ups into basements as well as over burdening the aging sewer treatment facility. The federal funds will help the City continue to address the infiltration and inflow problems in the collection system. Not correcting this problem will result in building a larger sewage treatment facility than needed, which will increase the construction and operating costs bore by the taxpayers.
Recipient of the funding is the City of Savanna, 101 Main Street, Savanna, IL 61074. Contact is Mayor Bill Lease.
